Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer Shawls are being created by a group of parishioners. They are knitted or crocheted though they can be woven, sewn or quilted. The knitter, for example, begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient. Intentions are continued as the shawl is created. When the shawl is completed it is offered a final blessing before being presented. These shawls may be given as comfort at a time of illness, bereavement or at the time of marriage, birth or at other occasions that allow us to minister to another's need for care and comfort. As our gift is given, some recipients choose to continue the kindness by making a shawl and passing it on to someone in need. In this way the blessing flows from person to person and both givers and receivers feel the unconditional embrace of a sheltering, loving God.
