4 Ways to Help Our Sister Parish in Manta

Our Sister Parish Ministry was created in 2010 to establish spiritual, cultural and personal relationships with our Sister Parish in Manta, Ecador. Our parishioners sponsor children to support their education, assist the local soup kitchens through donations, provide funds for training of marketable skills for their parishioners to provide for their families and help with specific urgent needs in the Nino Jesus parish. To find out more about the 4 ways that you can help our Sister Parish, click on the names of the programs below.

  • Manta Student Scholarship Program

Fr. Roque was the Paster of Nino Jesus when the Sister Parish program was formed in 2000.  When Fr. Roque first visited St. Paul’s in 2001 he brought pictures and biographies of children who he knew needed help so they could attend school.   The first year St. Paul’s parishioners sponsored 15 children.  This past year St. Paul’s sponsored over 210  children.

The primary focus of the Sister Parish program has always been centered on education.  Prior to the start of each school year, Scholarship sponsors will be contacted about renewing their commitment for the next school year.   Fr. Roque stated that there are more children who need a sponsor.  The Sister Parish committee will be seeking new sponsors for these children as well. If you are interested in sponsoring a student in this program, please email the office for more information.

  • Manta Soup Kitchen Project

St. Paul’s has provided funds for the four Nino Jesus soup kitchens since 2005.   The primary source of the money has been the “Souper Bowl” collection taken by the teens on every Super Bowl Sunday.  This past February the teens collected a record $2,915.00 for the soup kitchens in Manta. Additional donations would be most welcome. If you are interested in contributing to this projext fund you may donate online by clicking here.

  • Project Hope

In 2021, “Project Hope” was started.   The goal of Project Hope is to teach students a skill that will allow them to earn a couple of dollars a week to help support their families.  Classes have been provided in baking, hair care and sewing.  To donate to this worthy fund you may make an online donation by clicking here and then going to the Sister Parish line or mail in a donation. • Good Samaritan Program

This program has set up an emergency fund to help with specific urgent needs in the Nino Jesus parish. Whether someone needs shoes, medicine, or a home repair, Father Roque tries to meet their needs.  Currently he is helping a family add a room onto their home that was built from cane.  He has also been able to help a young man go to Barber School.  Now the young man, with his new skills, can help support his family. If you would like to assist with this emergency assistance fund, you may make an online donation by clicking here and then going to the Sister Parish line or mail in a donation.
