What is the roll of a Reader?
- To proclaim the good news of the Lord to the assembly.
- To enable the assembly to hear the word that is to shape their lives.
- To share in the work of the Lord’s Spirit who opens the hearts of the assembly to God’s holy word.
- To be a messenger of God’s love for all people.

Who can participate in this ministry?
- A fully initiated Catholic, one who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist and is in good standing in the church.
- Be active in the Catholic faith and registered member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Community.

What is expected of me in performing this ministry?
- Be willing to grow in knowledge and understanding of the scriptures.
- Prepare, study readings prior to service.
- Be aware of your scheduled Ministry date and arriving in a timely fashion, i.e., at least 15 minutes before Mass starts and check in at the schedule in the vestibule and with the Liturgy Coordinator.
- Personally find a substitute if needed.
- Attend training sessions, and Workshops when scheduled.

What is appropriate dress attire when serving?
Dress according to the dignity of the Ministry:
- For men: dress shirt and tie is preferable (jacket optional)
- For women: a dress or skirt of appropriate length, or dress slacks, appropriate top (no halter tops or tops with spaghetti straps)
- For both: NO shorts, sweat suits, jeans, crop pants, sneakers, t-shirts, tank tops
Note: Even if not scheduled for a particular Mass, please come appropriately dressed, stop in the check-in area, and offer to be a substitute if needed.
